Five Happy Things #3
It's time for part three of my Five Happy Things series. What's made you happy lately?
1) A lovely brunch date
Can all Mondays kick off with a brunch date please? Last week, I met up with my wonderful friend Jacqui. No matter what stage you are at in your life, you should have people around you who inspire and encourage you. Jacqui is one of those people. She manages a career as a doctor, a family and a busy social life. When I grow up, I want to be like her.
We chatted and caught up and shared what was going on in our lives. A fab couple of hours. The Plough in Harborne is one of my favourite brunch spots. The atmosphere is great. I cannot wait to see how the place looks, once their expansion work is finished.
2) Work
I went full time freelance with Honey Bee Copywriting one year ago and I'm so thankful for the place I'm in right now.
There are still some goals that I am working towards but I've had the privilege to work with some fantastic clients and I am certain that the best is yet to come. The potential for growth is amazing. There are some days when I don't even want to get dressed but I am so happy to have my freedom that turning back is just not an option.
3) Exciting news at church
Planning permission for the next phase of our building has been passed; not only has it been passed but they didn't even hold a meeting to debate the whole thing. Sometimes, you just need to stop and recognise when a miracle has happened. That is definitely one of those moments. It's absolutely crazy to think that the next phase, with its new children's facilities will one day be where my children are.
4) Feeling good about my body
Let's not get this twisted, I love my body. However, for most of my twenties, I've struggled with the fact that seemingly out of nowhere, I put on quite a bit of weight. Now, to the untrained eye, there was no difference. But other people don't live in my body, I do. I had noticed and it sucked big time. Anyway, the past 18 months, I've had an on-off love affair with fitness and especially an outdoor fitness boot camp that I'd become a member of.
To cut a long story short, I am more serious about my fitness now and it's showing. Do I still struggle? Yes. But there are tiny victories that just keep pushing me along. Like, I don't dread exercise as much anymore. I fit into jeans that at one point wouldn't even make it halfway up my thigh. I feel loads better about myself. I generally feel better. All of the effort is worth it. Then on top of that, other people have noticed, which is a great bonus.
New trainers helped too. Shout out to my Nike Downshifter 6's and to Total Body Fitness, for accomplishing what years of P.E at school never could.
5) My new favourite brand
This summer, I've been introduced to hot new brand Luxemme and my goodness, what a treat. They approached me and asked if I'd be interested in working with them. Well, after taking a look at their collection, I immediately said 'yes'.
It can be tempting as a blogger, to say 'yes' to every outreach email that comes through. Truth is, some things just aren't worth agreeing to. Luxemme are absolutely fab. In their own words, they describe themselves as 'a forward thinking fashion brand combining Parisian chic with Manchester street style.' Well, who doesn't appreciate a little French style in their wardrobe? Keep an eye out for my outfit post, featuring the blazer that I ordered.
