Melly's Adventures | Working Away in Peterborough
So, it's been an unusual few days for me. I've been away for a couple of days...for work!
It's an odd one, the freelance life. You can be blissfully working away in a coffee shop one minute, and then on the road the next.
That's what happened to me last week. I was on site with a client and they asked me if I'd do some work in one of their other locations. I said 'yes' almost straight away. The next morning I hit the road and headed for Peterborough.
Now, if you know me, you'll know that I really don't like the motorway. I used to be a lot worse than I am now. I honestly still don't enjoy it very much but I'm so pleased that I've overcome that fear.
The team in the studio were lovely. Everyone made me feel welcome. Due to the nature of the work, I wasn't allowed to take photos in the studio. They're a big retailer though, so it's nice to know that I am gaining more of that type of experience. I always imagined what it would be like to see the behind-the-scenes and it's fun.
I googled my hotel and was very pleasantly surprised. It was a gorgeous place about a 10 minute drive away from the studio; I stayed in the Dragonfly Hotel. It's 3 star place and is set in very peaceful surroundings. No complaints whatsoever.
I only met Dale on reception but he was very helpful. If I stay there again, I'll probably have a night in and check out the restaurant there.
It was definitely a couple of days that involved a few firsts. I had never dined solo before - definitely an unusual experience for me. I've also never worked away before and stayed in a hotel by myself before. I quite enjoyed it but I can see how people get lonely, being on the road.
Peterborough is a lovely little place and I certainly wouldn't mind popping there again, all expenses paid.
Why not check out my vlog, to see what I got up to? Watch out for spiders!
